The Daily 5

The students are doing a great job with the daily 5. I'm very proud of their progress. We have been working on building their stamina on read to yourself and work on writing. We are now up to reading for 19 minutes straight! That means everyone in the classroom is doing nothing but reading for the entire 19 minutes. We are also up to 9 minutes of work on writing! I was a little worried at the beginning of the year as to whether the students would like the daily 5 because they were so use to centers and several would ask about centers. But, now that we have been doing the daily 5 for 2 weeks they really seem to like it. We started reading with someone today.
